WCCHR Spring Training

April 5, 2025 - 8:00am

WCCHR's annual spring training will take place on Saturday, April 5 from 8am-3pm in Weill Auditorium (1300 York Ave, New York, NY 10065). Clinicians and students should enter through the 68th Street entrance facing York Avenue.

We are excited to add a virtual option for clinicians located outside of New York City this year! If you are interested in attending virtually, there is a separate registration link here. We encourage those who are local to attend in-person. For those located across the country, please feel free to register for our training and reach out to wcchr@med.cornell.edu if you would like help getting connected to an asylum clinic near you.

We are always looking for dedicated volunteers and collaborators who are passionate about human rights and asylum work.  We collaborate with a wide range of professionals, including physicians, psychologists, social workers, advanced practice providers, medical students, lawyers, law students, and not-for-profits, among others. WCCHR April Pods

WCCHR Pods is a monthly discussion group discussing cases. WCCHR Pods session has ~5 clinician evaluators with ~10-15 students to learn about human rights advocacy, build skills for conducting forensic medical evaluations, and foster mentorship and community. We meet on the first Thursday of the month from 6-7 pm throughout the year. Please email wcchr@med.cornell.edu if you would like to be added to the listserv.

Our April 3rd session will be a psych case led by Dr. Jaywant! Join us in LC 209/210 for some snacks and discussion.

WCCHR April Speaker Series

April 1, 2025 - 6:00pm

Join us for a vital conversation with Dr. Yinka, a leading voice on justice for women affected by violence, war, and forced migration. Drawing on decades of clinical experience with the Bellevue Program for Survivors of Torture, fieldwork with Physicians for Human Rights, and research in Sierra Leone, Nigeria, and among West African immigrants in the U.S., Dr. Yinka will offer deep insight into the reproductive justice challenges faced by asylum-seeking women. Don’t miss this chance to learn from her expertise and engage in meaningful dialogue on care, advocacy, and action.

WCCHR Speaker Series are our monthly speaker events. In the past, we have invited speakers to discuss ethics in human rights and reproductive justice.
